How laser gingival correction works

Preparation for laser gum correction is a standard procedure. The doctor examines the patient’s oral cavity, collects medical history, studies the data of auxiliary examinations, and consults with related specialists to develop an optimal treatment plan, explaining its advantages to the patient.

The immediate procedure consists of the following stages:

Oral cavity sanitation – cleaning the teeth from soft and hard plaque to prevent re-infection.
Application of photosensitive gel, which begins to actively affect pathogenic bacteria in a few minutes.
Removal of gel residues.
Protecting the patient with special glasses to prevent laser exposure.
Directed treatment of the gums with a beam of laser light without touching the mucous membrane, resulting in the active decomposition of bacteria treated with photosensitive gel (living tissues are not involved in the process), leaving behind a sterile surface.
If necessary, antiseptic and antibacterial agents are applied.
Recommendations are given for home care, and the date of the next visit is scheduled.

After the laser gingival correction procedure, a special protective film remains on the mucous membrane, preventing re-entry of bacteria.

The duration of gum treatment with a laser varies depending on the degree and extent of pathology. On average, the most complex manipulations take no more than one and a half hours, and sometimes only 20-30 minutes. A repeat session may be required. Disease prevention requires regular visits no less than once every 6 months.
