Metal Braces System

The metal braces system is an orthodontic structure made of metal, consisting of brackets, archwires, and ligatures, which are attached to the patient’s teeth from both the outside and inside to correct the bite and align crooked teeth. By applying subtle, smooth, and continuous pressure, the archwire gradually moves the teeth into the correct position.

Humans are social beings who constantly interact with others, so it is important for them to have nice and straight teeth. This is especially crucial for public figures such as politicians, TV presenters, actors, and others.

Not everyone can boast of having beautiful and straight teeth. Due to various reasons, genetics, aging, harmful habits, dental diseases, or external influences, teeth can grow unevenly or even rotate around their axis, which can spoil the appearance of the smile.

The metal braces system is designed to correct this situation. Moreover, it can be installed both in childhood and adulthood, and its price is highly affordable compared to alternatives made from other materials.

Indications for Installation

Traditionally, metal braces are installed in patients diagnosed with malocclusion to correct the problem and move the dental units into the correct position over a certain period, resulting in straight dental rows and a beautiful smile. Sometimes metal braces are placed to align teeth before orthopedic treatment.

The need for installing a metal braces system is often evident to the naked eye. However, a competent orthodontist is required for its installation and fabrication, who, after examination and discussion with the patient, will choose the most optimal product and placement (on the inside or outside of the teeth).

Types of Metal Braces Systems

Depending on the location of attachment, metal braces come in the following types:

1. Vestibular braces

Attached to the outside of the teeth. They are visible to others, causing slight discomfort to the patient, but due to their effectiveness and affordable cost, they are the most popular.

2. Lingual braces

Attached to the inside of the teeth. They do not differ structurally from vestibular devices. The advantage is that they are not visible to others, but the downside is that they are more expensive and require longer treatment.

Depending on the type of construction, metal braces systems come in the following types:

1. Ligature braces

Have ligatures in their construction, with which the brackets are attached to the archwire. The presence of ligatures and archwires requires regular visits to the orthodontist for the correction of the entire system's work.

2. Ligature-free braces

Do not have ligatures in their construction. In such a system, the archwire is attached to the brackets with a clip slot. The regularity of visits is somewhat lower compared to wearing ligature braces due to the original construction.

Installation Process of Metal Braces System

1. Preparatory Stage

2. Fixation Stage

After fixing all the braces, the orthodontist will specify the frequency of preventive visits to correct the metal braces system. The treatment is completed by removing the braces and installing retainers for a certain period to consolidate the result.
